The Stranglehold Chess Tournament was the 12th international event held in The Dragon’s Alcove at All About Games, Boise, Idaho. This five round, 16 player event ran from April 22-May 20, 2024. In addition to our local players, we were honored to work with the #33 player from the South Korean Chess Federation, an old friend from the Federal Republic of Germany, and two players from Washington State.

All About Games continues to host our international events and we enjoy the use of The Dragon’s Alcove.

Games take place on Monday evenings beginning at 5 p.m. The Boise Chess Club members provide us with a fine meal of U.S. Chess and World Chess Federation menu items. Dmitry Milkulik, currently ranked 33rd with the South Korean Chess Federation and Manfred Forster of the Federal Republic of Germany, were joined by two Washington State players, Michael Shaw and Yuwen Qu. 7 year old Yuwen, earned her initial FIDE rating in this event! Well done Wen and thank you all for competing!
