So, you think Boise, Idaho, is a laid back, fun place to visit, but you wouldn’t be caught dead here?  Really!

Come to Boise, December 16-18, 2022, for this US Chess 200 point Grand Prix event and a Northwest Chess Grand Prix Tour 6x, which is the largest tournament in Northwest Chess history.* Play like your life depends on it … It does!

Should you fail, the organizers promise to send a nice letter to your next of kin.

The Elite Section is open to all.  The Reserve Section for U2200 and below. The Elite and Reserve sections are FIDE rated.

6-SS; 40/90,SD/30;+30  Rounds: 12:15 p.m., 5 p.m.

Players will compete in all six rounds

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each round

No last round byes are available

Pairings will be posted no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each round.

Current round pairings will be posted in the playing room and on this website.

The $10,000 Elite Prizes are Unconditionally Guaranteed

$2,500, $2,000, $1,500, $1,000, $750, $500, $400, $375, $350, $325, $300

Unrated: $150, $125, $100 Unrated players will play

in the Elite Section with an assigned rating of 2199.

If a player’s rating has dropped 100 points over six months, the older rating will be used.

Top Woman $200; Top Senior 65 years or older $200

Reserve Prizes based on 100 Paid Entries:  $5,725

U2200: $375, $325, $300; U2000: $375, $325, $300; U1800: $300, $200, $100;

U1600: $300, $200, $100; U1400: $200, $100, $50; U1200: $200, $100, $50;

U1000: $200, $100, $50; U800: $200, $100, $50; U600: $200, $100, $50;

The entry fee is $100 period. No play up fees, no late fees.

To register:  Click on the Buy Now button below. Once you have paid your entry fee of $100 you will be taken to the Tournament registration form to complete your registration. In the Tournament name box, enter MexInsurance FIDE Open and your preferred section – Elite or Reserve. Registration ends at 8 p.m. Mtn time, December 15, 2022. 

There is no on-site registration.  No exceptions.

Please bring a chess set, board, digital clock and a pen or pencil, none provided.
